Going to Europe—HELP!

Hi everyone!

So I’m headed off to Europe on Sunday for a couple weeks. I’m so excited but was wondering if any of you could help me! The last time I was in Europe I only had a few days in each city. This time I’ll be able to explore a bit more. I’m looking for recommendations for shopping/restaurants/off the beaten path stuff to do in Rome and Paris. I’ll also be spending a couple days in Milan and Lyon.

we'll always have paris...

If you have any recommendations please please please leave them for me in the Comments section–I would be so grateful!

Hope you are all having a great week!

20 Little Facts About Me

I first saw this post on College Prep, a great blog I follow, and thought it would be something fun to do. Plus, it’s Sunday afternoon and I’m completely bored. So, if you ever wanted to know 20 random things about me, read on! And feel free to share your list with me!

1) My favorite color has and always will be pink. I tried to deny it when I was younger, but now I just embrace it!

2) I’m obsessed with wearing scarves. They keep me super warm and make my outfits look a lot fancier than they really are.

3) I was really into Justin Bieber when he first started out, but now I just wish he would go away. No offense, to any Beliebers who may be reading this.

4) Target is my favorite store in the world.

5) I don’t watch much TV, but when I do it’s usually something on HGTV.

6) When I was younger, I had short hair. One day at kindergarten a boy said that because I had short hair that meant I wasn’t a girl–even though I was wearing a dress at the time. I think that moment may have contributed to my current beauty and fashion obsession.

7) I can’t leave the house without ChapStick. If I happen to find myself without it, I get a little anxious.

8) My favorite number is two.

9) One of my favorite cities in the world is San Francisco.

10) Gilmore Girls is my favorite TV show of all time. I have the entire series on DVD and am constantly watching it.

11) I spent a lot of my childhood living in a house on the beach in Hawaii. I wasn’t allowed to go surfing until after I finished my homework.

12) When the movie Twilight came out on DVD, I watched it every day for several weeks. Please don’t judge me.

13) Frozen Reese’s are my favorite candy. Try it.

14) I have three piercings in each ear and I kind of want more.

15) I love going to the dentist.

16) I can’t drive a car without music…it’s just too quiet!

17) I’m horrible at math.

18) Broccoli is one of my favorite foods.

19) I used to not like being tall, but now I really like it.

20) I can’t wait for baseball season to get here!

Product Review: CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation

cg_outlast_stay_fabulous_3in1_foundation_1Last year, I said I was turning into a bit of a concealer junkie. However, I may have morphed into a bit of a foundation junkie. I’m always on the hunt for a long-lasting, natural-looking foundation that will help control my somewhat oily skin. I think I may have found a winner with CoverGirl’s Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation!

This makeup has been getting all kinds of buzz in the beauty blogosphere lately. So, of course, I had to try it out! I picked this up at Target (thanks for the Christmas gift card, Mom!) in the shade Nude Beige 832. First of all, I love this product’s packaging. My main complaint with the L’Oreal Magic Nude foundation (which I still love) is the messy packaging. With the CoverGirl foundation, you simply pump a bit of product out and you’re good to go.

Now, on to the product itself. According to CoverGirl’s website, this foundation combines a primer, concealer, and foundation in one (it also has an SPF of 20–score!). The first time I applied this foundation, I skipped my usual primer. The next time, I used a primer and I liked the foundation much, much better. You don’t necessarily need to use a primer first, but I just happen to prefer one.

The application of this foundation is awesome. I used the Tarte Airbrush Finish Foundation brush to apply the product and it was very easy to blend out. It also gives medium to full coverage while still looking light and natural. You can even apply another layer of foundation if you want more coverage.

Although this foundation claims to have a concealer in it, I still had to apply some concealer under my eyes and on a few spots on my face. However, I wasn’t expecting a completely flawless look from this one product, and was very happy with how even and natural my skin looked.

After a full day of wear, the makeup still looked really good. While I wasn’t completely shine-free, I didn’t feel the need to do any touch-ups throughout the day. I even wore this makeup today during a sweat-filled workout (yes, I know, working out with your makeup on is bad) and it held up really well!

Since this is now the longest review in the history of reviews, I’ll finish by saying that this is an amazing foundation and you should definitely give it a try! If you’re looking for a makeup that offers great coverage and staying power while still looking natural, this one is a must.

Please let me know in the Comments section if you have tried this foundation!

2013 Beauty Favorites

Since I’m just now getting back from a road trip, I’m a little behind on getting my yearly beauty favorites up. However, I’m very excited to share my favorite products from the past year, and can’t wait to try even more in 2014!

So, without further adieu, here are my 2013 Beauty Favorites (drumroll, please!):

Primer: The POREfessional by Benefit

If you’ve followed this blog at all, this should be no surprise. I talked about this product in my first Favorites post and featured it in a haul post and video. It gives my skin a smooth, flawless finish, and I can’t imagine applying makeup without it!

Foundation: Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation by Tarte//Matte Moisture Tint by Jouer//Magic Nude Liquid Powder Makeup by L’Oreal

I couldn’t choose just one product for this category, because I use all of these foundations for different reasons. When I want a long-wearing look, I reach for the Tarte foundation because it offers great coverage and it stays put. In the summer months, I tend to go for the Matte Moisture Tint because it’s lighter and does a good job controlling my oily skin. If I’m having a casual day and don’t want to feel like I’m wearing a ton of makeup, the Magic Nude makeup is where it’s at! You really can’t go wrong with any of these!

Concealer: boi-ing by Benefit//Pro Longwear by MAC

There are two concealers that offer great coverage. I talked about boi-ing in this post, and I really love it for hiding any blemishes or redness. It’s also very easy to travel with. MAC’s concealer is one I tend to use under my eyes because it has great staying power and doesn’t crease. I showed it in this haul video, and will definitely pick up another one once this one runs out!

Powder: Powder Buff Natural Skin Foundation by Mark//Smooth Skin Loose Translucent Powder by NYC

I’ve been using the Mark powder for a very long time, and it’s so easy for on-the-go touch-ups. To set my makeup, I like to use NYC’s loose powder, which I’ve featured in a Favorites post. Since it’s translucent, I never have to worry about it matching my skin tone…plus it’s a bargain!

Bronzer: NYC Color Icon Bronzer in Ticket to Brazil

I’ve talked about this bronzer quite a bit on this blog, but it’s only because I freaking love it! I originally bought it because I didn’t want to re-purchase the pricey NARS Laguna bronzer, and I’ve never regretted it. It’s such a bargain and is great for contouring as well as bronzing.

Blush: Wet ‘n Wild Mega Glo Illuminating Powder in Catwalk Pink

I love this product so much because of its versatility. You can swirl all the colors together for a gorgeous, rosy blush. Or, you can use the colors individually as a highlight, blush, eye shadow, or bronzer. Four products in one? Yes, please! I featured this product in my October Favorites, but I think it’ll definitely be one of my favorites for a while!

Eye Shadow: Infallible Eye Shadow in Amber Rush by L’Oreal//Eye Shadow Quad in Bronzed Beauty by Sonia Kashuk

I picked up the L’Oreal shadow on total impulse because it was pretty (see a swatch here) and I totally fell in love with it. It’s a beautiful rosy, bronze color that stays put all day and doesn’t crease. I recently reviewed the Sonia Kashuk eye shadows right here and I have been using them nonstop! I don’t know what I did before I owned this eye shadow quad–good job, Sonia!

Liner: Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner by Stila

I’ve been using these eye liners for a while now, and they are my absolute favorite. I have a few colors, but my two favorites are Lionfish (brown) and Tetra (purple). They go on so smoothly, and I love that they are retractable–no more sharpening needed!

Mascara: One by One Volumizing Mascara by Maybelline

Again, I’ve talked this mascara to death on this blog. I’ve tried lots of high-end and drugstore mascaras, and I keep coming back to this one. It never clumps, and gives me a natural, voluminous look.

Lips: Strawberry Lip Balm by Rosebud Perfume Co.

As someone who loves her lip products, it was extremely hard to pick a favorite lip product for 2013. However, I decided on this balm because it’s so moisturizing, easy to travel with, apply. It also smells so yummy!
