Product Review: Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Makeup

We’ve all been there. You get enticed to make some sort of beauty purchase with the promise of those two magic words: free samples. I know I’ve definitely fallen victim to the promise of trying out new goodies and I’ve amassed quite a nice collection of samples.

Today I decided to try out one of those samples: Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Makeup!

_9382452The shade I received was Beige and it was a pretty good color for me, especially for summer. It might be a bit too dark for the colder months but I was able to make it work. The makeup applied evenly and gave good coverage. It’s definitely not a heavy foundation so it’s perfect for summer. The finish was a bit dewy which I didn’t mind but I always apply powder on top so that gave me a more matte finish.

I was very impressed with how my skin looked throughout the day. The coverage really well as I walked around outside and ran errands. I only started to get a little oily in my T-zone near the end of the day. Best of all, this makeup looked very natural which I love!

All in all, I really love this product. It’s a bit pricier than other makeup, but I think it’s worth it and don’t we all deserve a little treat every now and then?

My Five Must-Have Summer Face Products

With the temperature heating up, I find myself wanting to wear less and less these days –makeup, that is! Since the first official day of summer just arrived, I thought it was only appropriate to post my top five essential face products for summer.

In no particular order, here are the products I reach for when it’s hot hot hot out and I want my makeup to last:

1. Benefit The POREfessional: No matter the season, I always reach for this product before applying my makeup. It smooths everything out and leaves my skin prepped for any sort of foundation I might be using!

2. Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream Skin Clearing Perfector: Speeeeaking of foundation, I haven’t been using it much now that the temperature has risen. This BB cream provides enough coverage for the steamy days of summer and this particular version contains salicylic acid to fight those lovely pesky breakous. Win win!

3. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer: I picked up this concealer on a whim not expecting anything amazing. However, the joke’s on me because I absolutely love it! When it’s super hot out, I use it under my eyes in lieu of a normal concealer. The highlighting effect really helps cancel out any dark circles or puffiness you may have!

4. Marc Jacobs O!Mega Bronzer: This is definitely a splurge of a product but due to its size, you really get your money’s worth. It’s a natural looking bronzer that stays put.

5. L’Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray: The name of this product pretty much says it all! This spray sets your makeup so it won’t run all all over the place when things start to heat up.

Did your favorite product make the list? Tell me what products you love for summer!

What I’m Loving: Blue Nail Polish

While I can’t say the bright, blue sky inspired today’s post (it’s actually been terribly rainy here the last couple of weeks), I’m still loving all things blue nail polish!

There’s something about the temperature heating up that makes me want to break up the monotony of my usual nude/dark colored nail polish and try something *gasp* colorful. Below are a few of the colorful blue polishes I’ve had my eye one. Which one is your favorite?

Life Lately: Charleston Charm

Raise your hand if you’re exhausted from a whirlwind weekend getaway and could use another vacation to recover from your vacation. You can’t see me, but I just raised my hand…

I just returned from a girls trip to Charleston and it was awesome. Although we were only there for a weekend, we managed to pack in a good bit of sightseeing, brewery touring, and eating lots of yummy (read: fried) food. Aaaand below are a few of my favorite photos I took along the way!
