Bioderma Dupe?

FullSizeRender-3As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, Bioderma is one of my favorite makeup removal methods. I picked up my first (and only) bottle on a trip to Paris. Unfortunately I didn’t fully comprehend its magical powers before I flew back so once I used up my precious bottle, I found myself looking for a replacement.

I decided to try out the Simple Micellar Facial Cleanser Water as it was budget-friendly and readily available at my local Target.

At first glance the two products seem pretty similar. They are both unscented and feature micellar water as the main ingredient. When put to the test, I enjoyed using the Simple micellar water version. And then I got it in my eyes—oh, the burning! Maybe I put too much product on my little cotton round or maybe I’m just too sensitive but my poor little eyes did not like the Simple water.

I’ve lately been much more careful about keeping my eyes tightly shut when removing my eye makeup and I haven’t really had a problem.

Overall, I’d pick Bioderma over Simple. However now that I’m in the midst of “No Spending” July and August, I’ll have to wait a little while if I decide to pick up some more Bioderma. But if I find myself in a pinch and without a good makeup remover, I’ll definitely pick up the Simple makeup remover. I just have to remember to keep my eyes completely closed!

“No Spending” July + August

57983859Happy Sunday everyone! Sunday is definitely my favorite day of the week (followed closely by Friday, obviously). It’s a great day to take some time to reflect, recharge and focus on what’s important in the upcoming week.

One thing that is a constant focus for me is saving money. Whether it’s for an unexpected expense or spontaneous trip, I always want to make sure I have plenty of money in the bank.

With that thought in mind, I’ve decided to put a hold on any spending on makeup for the rest of July. I was inspired to do this by Ravishing Roses and I even decided to take the challenge up a notch by extending it through August. AHHHH!

With an overflowing collection of makeup products, I’m hoping this little experiment will help me rediscover a few products in my collection while saving some pennies along the way.

Do you think you could manage a challenge like this? Let me know in the Comments section!

Life Lately: A Mountainous Fourth!

If you’ve read this blog for a while, you know I love taking little trips whenever I can! This past weekend I headed out of town and into the mountains to celebrate the Fourth of July.

I went to Asheville, North Carolina and it was absolutely amazing! I loved the laid-back, artsy vibe of the city and I can’t wait to go back.

We had a great dinner with an even better view, visited the Biltmore House, and saw plenty of fireworks and mountains! Below are a few of my favorite shots from the weekend.

June Favorites

HAPPY JULY!

While I should be packing for my Fourth of July getaway this weekend, I would much rather watch Gilmore Girls and blog about my favorite products from the past month. So of course that’s exactly what I’m doing.

In no particular order, here are a few of my favorite things from the month of June:

mark. Glowdacious Illuminating Powder: I’ve had this illuminating bronzer for a while now but I’ve only recently become ultra-obsessed with it. I don’t put it all over my face since I already have naturally illuminated skin (read: oily). I like to use it as a blush or bronzer on my cheeks. It’s also great for eye shadow or just a good ol’ fashioned highlighter!

Bath and Body Works Honolulu Sun Candle: This is a different kind of scent for me but I’m completely obsessed with it…in fact, I’m burning it as I write this! I spent a good amount of my childhood living in Honolulu so this definitely makes me happy when I burn it (P.S. I don’t see it on Bath and Body Works’ website but check for it in-store or on Amazon!).

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream Skin Clearing Perfector: I gave this guy a shout-out in my recent must-have summer face products post and I’m still loving this product. It’s light enough for the hot summer months but still gives me enough coverage.

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer: This is another product I mentioned in my summer face products post and–you guessed it–my love for it is still going strong! I’ve been using it in lieu of my usual concealer and I’m obsessed!

NOT wearing eyeliner: So this favorite is a little random, but I haven’t been feeling eye liner at all lately. I’m not sure if it’s the summer heat or just laziness, but I’ve started to prefer how my makeup looks when I’m not wearing liner. I’m sure I’ll go back to it eventually but right now I’m loving my minimal look!
