Sephora Haul + Mini Reviews

Guess who’s back…back again? That’s right, I finally, finally managed to pick up a new laptop and this blog post is long overdue.

I treated myself to a few goodies during last month’s Sephora VIB sale. Read on to see what I picked up and what may be headed back to the store! (P.S. Click here to see a super fast unboxing video.)

  1. Givenchy Powder Translucent Finish Loose Powder: This powder is definitely a luxury product. The packaging is so glamorous and makes you feel super fancy. However, that wasn’t enough for me and I ended up returning this product and sticking to my $3 Rimmel London powder.
  2. Tangle Teezer: Where has this brush been all my life?! I’m not joking when I say this detangling brush has changed my life. Since my hair is long and fine, it doesn’t take much for it to become a tangled mess. But with this brush, detangling is a snap!
  3. Marc Jacobs #Instamarc Light Filtering Contour Powder: This is the first contouring powder I’ve ever tried and…meh. The brightening shade on the left didn’t do much for me and the contour shade on the right was a bit too muddy looking for me. Needless to say, this product went back to the store as well.
  4. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation: This foundation is always a home run for me and this time around wasn’t any different. I love how long-lasting this makeup is while still leaving my skin looking natural.

What I’m Loving: Minimal Makeup

While this is a blog mostly dedicated to makeup and beauty products, I have to say I’ve been really loving a minimal makeup look. Not only is it nice to wear less makeup during the steamy days of summer, wearing less makeup allows me to get ready in a flash.

Below are a few minimal makeup looks I’ve been loving lately. What’s your go-to makeup look right now?

What I’m Loving: Tufted Sofas

If you’ve been reading this blog for a little while, you may know that I’ve been having a grand old time decorating my very own apartment. While I have everything mostly set up how I want, I’ve always had my eye on one piece of furniture: a tufted sofa. They’re so elegant and feminine and one day I will have one of my own!

Below are a few of my favorite tufted sofas at the moment.

What I’m Loving: Rompers

Although rompers have been around for a while, I never fully embraced the trend until recently. I’m a huge fan of pieces you can just throw on quickly and run out the door, so it’s no surprise that I’ve finally taken to wearing rompers. Below are a few of the rompers I’ve been eyeing lately. Keep in mind that you may have to size up in order to achieve that effortless, laid back vibe…or if you’re tall like I am! 16751489

Splurge vs Steal: Rebecca Minkoff

I don’t know if it’s the pollen going to my head or the fact that festival season is upon us, but lately I’ve been allllll about finding a fringe crossbody bag.

I’ve been eyeing the Finn crossbody from Rebecca Minkoff for a while now and while it’s gorgeous, I can’t quite bring myself to drop the cash on such a trendy item.

As I was cruising Target’s website looking for a fringey alternative, I stumbled across a great dupe of my coveted bag.

Available in black and cognac, the Target version is strikingly similar to the more expensive Minkoff. While the strap isn’t removable and, okay, maybe the fringe isn’t as awesomely fringey as the Finn, I think it’s a great alternative for those of us wanting to experiment a little bit.

Which one do you prefer?

What I’m Loving: The Front Tuck

Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a lovely weekend–mine was full of pollen, baseball, and forcing myself to wear color despite my natural tendencies to wear black, white and any other neutral you can possibly think of.

On the subject of clothes, there’s one fashion related thing I’ve been loving: The Front Tuck. I’ve done this look on-and-off lately, but have really taken it up a notch after spotting the look on Unfancy, a minimalist fashion blog. While this post shows off a front and center tuck, I prefer to tuck my tops in a little more off to the right. It’s a bit easier for me to pull off, but you do you!

Below are a few front tuck pics to inspire your next outfit:

Spring Picks from Old Navy

I’ll be the first to admit, Old Navy used to be my jam. Back in my middle school and high school days, it was easy to find whatever I needed there. Lately, though, I haven’t found too much that’s struck my fancy.

I popped in the store today on a shopping trip but (no surprise) left empty-handed. Then, on a whim, I checked out their website and ended up finding quite a few things! Plus they’re offering an additional online-only discount right now.

Here are a few things that caught my eye:

This navy and white dress would like great with a lightweight jacket thrown on top

These polka shorts are just way too fun!

cn7590004These cut-out booties would be great now and in the fall

I’ve been dying to get a bucket bag and I couldn’t pass this one up!

What I’m Loving: Stripes

If there’s one thing in life that I’m sure of, it’s my love of black and white. Lately, I can’t get enough of this particular shirt. I picked it up from Target (my other love) and can’t seem to stop wearing it! In fact, I might even be wearing it as I type this…#sorrynotsorry

It’s a lightweight, black and white striped knit that is cut to fit a bit looser–so it’s cute AND comfortable! I also love pairing this top with a bold necklace or colorful shoes. The possibilities really are endless!

What I’m Loving: Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Polish

Revlon recently released their new collection of nail polish, Parfumerie. And guess what? It’s scented! So, of course, I couldn’t resist picking up a few scented shades and I absolutely love them!

First of all, the packaging is so chic and classy. They look so irresistible on display that even if you’re not a nail polish junkie you’ll want to check them out!

Now, let’s discuss the fragrance. Available in 24 scents/colors from Orange Blossom to Chocolate Truffle to Lavendar Soap, you’re bound to find to find a polish that suits your style. Make sure you let the nail polish dry before you smell it, unless you particularly enjoy how nail polish smells right out of the bottle (I don’t).

The scent should last for about four days. I painted my nails in the Autumn Spice color about five days ago and I can still smell the lingering fragrance. Also, if you’re worried about this polish chipping, I highly recommend this base coat!

If you’re looking to try out some new unique nail polish, I highly suggest this collection. I’m planning to pick up a couple more scented shades soon!

Have you tried any of them yet?

My Oscars Fashion Favs

I’ll be honest, I don’t really care much about the actual Oscars awards show. I usually don’t get a chance to see many of the movies nominated so I don’t have much of an opinion on who should win what.

However, what I do enjoy seeing is the red carpet fashion. While I wasn’t totally blown away by anyone this year, I do have a few favorites. In no particular order, here are my favorite fashions from this year’s Oscars:
