Sephora Haul + Mini Reviews

Guess who’s back…back again? That’s right, I finally, finally managed to pick up a new laptop and this blog post is long overdue.

I treated myself to a few goodies during last month’s Sephora VIB sale. Read on to see what I picked up and what may be headed back to the store! (P.S. Click here to see a super fast unboxing video.)

  1. Givenchy Powder Translucent Finish Loose Powder: This powder is definitely a luxury product. The packaging is so glamorous and makes you feel super fancy. However, that wasn’t enough for me and I ended up returning this product and sticking to my $3 Rimmel London powder.
  2. Tangle Teezer: Where has this brush been all my life?! I’m not joking when I say this detangling brush has changed my life. Since my hair is long and fine, it doesn’t take much for it to become a tangled mess. But with this brush, detangling is a snap!
  3. Marc Jacobs #Instamarc Light Filtering Contour Powder: This is the first contouring powder I’ve ever tried and…meh. The brightening shade on the left didn’t do much for me and the contour shade on the right was a bit too muddy looking for me. Needless to say, this product went back to the store as well.
  4. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation: This foundation is always a home run for me and this time around wasn’t any different. I love how long-lasting this makeup is while still leaving my skin looking natural.

What have you treated yourself to lately? Tell me in the Comments section so I can try them too!

April Favorites

Happy end of April/almost May!

I hope you all had a very happy month–between (still) getting settled at my new job and trying to have somewhat of a life outside of work, I feel like I haven’t had much time to myself. I did however find time to think of a few things I couldn’t live without during the month. Read on to find out what I was absolutely obsessed with during April!

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara: I did a whole review on this mascara, and while I’m not totally crazy about it, I found myself reaching for it quite a bit during April. Now I know that statement doesn’t make much sense, but lately I’ve only been using it on my bottom lashes. Before I bought this product I rarely applied mascara to my bottom lashes. However, the wand on this particular mascara fits nicely with my eye shape and makes applying mascara to my lower lashes a breeze.

Black Boyfriend Blazer: Yes, spring has sprung and summer is just around the corner, but I found myself wearing the heck out of my black boyfriend blazer this month. Whether for work or play, this piece adds a nice finishing touch (and an extra layer of warmth) to any outfit I happened to be wearing. I definitely rocked it with jeans, dresses, and trousers all month long! The one pictured below is very similar to the one I have–and it’s on clearance!

Benefit Rockateur: This has been in my Favorites before, but I can’t seem to get enough of this rosy hued blush. It’s so natural looking but gives my skin that little boost it needs to look fresh and alive. I’m definitely more than a  little obsessed!

Merona Striped Shirt: I featured this particular top in a recent “What I’m Loving” post and I still love it just as much now as I did then. It can go casual or dressy (I even wore it to work today) and is so comfortable I never want to stop wearing it.

15049042_201402041220

Benefit Sun Beam: Another Benefit product? Yup! I mostly use this product on my cheekbones as a highlighter but sometimes use it under my brow bone as well. It’s easy to blend and looks very natural on the skin.

Hard Candy Glow All the Way: As the temperatures heat up, I’m wearing more dresses and shorts. This can only mean one thing: it’s self-tanner time. To amp up my color a little bit more, I like to mix this Hard Candy bronzer in with my lotion. It gives me just a hint of color and a little bit of shimmer so that my skin looks nice and glowy. March Favorites

Happy almost April! March was such a crazy blur for me with the weather being so completely undecided, getting settled in with a new job, and trying to maintain some sort of social life–I’m exhausted!

Anyway I know you’re not reading this post to hear about all that. So, let’s get on to the good stuff, shall we? Here’s what I’ve been loving for the last 30 days:

1. NYX  Cosmetics Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Coffee–I picked this up several months ago to replace one of my beloved liners from Mark. Black liner looks too harsh on me and this is the perfect bronzed, metallic color to complement any look I’m going for. Plus, the brush is nice and thin so it’s easy to draw a subtle line.

2. Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Wash–There was a lot of buzz about this face wash when it first came out so I picked it up to see what all the fuss was about. It does a good job of cleansing, but what really gets me is the smell. It’s sweet and fruity and I’ve never experienced a face wash that smells this good! I definitely look forward to washing my face when I know I get to use this little guy.

3. Kate Spade Saturday The A Satchel in Silver Grey–As I mentioned already, I recently started a new job. I thought I would step up my handbag game and pick a more professional bag to carry during the day. I found this one by Kate Spade Saturday, and although it was a big of a splurge (even after signing up for a coupon code), I absolutely love it. It holds so much stuff without looking like a gigantic tote bag. I also love all the pockets inside and out!

4. Trader Joe’s Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion–After running out of my normal moisturizer this month, I thought I would try out something different. This one from Trader Joe’s is great! It’s unscented and such a bargain. I tend to use it mostly at night because while it’s a lightweight moisturizer, it’s still a little bit heavier than what I use during the day.

Ulta Haul!

If you saw my Lust List post, then you know a certain product has been on my mind lately. I couldn’t get it off my mind, so I just had to pick it up from Ulta…along with a few other things, of course! Keep on reading to see what I got!

Yes, that’s a Christmas decoration in the background #reallife

Naked3 Palette by Urban Decay: After debating about this palette for MONTHS, I finally broke down and bought it. Yes, I could have picked it up in the store, but Ulta was offering lots of free deluxe samples (see below) online–and you all know how much I love shopping online! I’m still playing around with the colors and I’m excited to try out all the new shades.

Hint of Color Dry Shampoo in Medium/Brunette by Batiste: As a dry shampoo fanatic, I’ve heard lots of great things about Batiste. This particular dry shampoo was sold out in my local Ulta, so I just went ahead and purchased it online as well. With this product I’m hoping to avoid the white, powdery look that sometimes happens with other dry shampoos.

I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara by Essence: I read a review about this mascara on a beauty blog and was intrigued. I’ve been trying out lots of new mascaras lately and decided to go ahead and pick this one up too. Plus the pink packaging is way too cute to pass up (and I forgot to photograph it, so you can click the link to check it out)!

Naked Lip Gloss by Urban Decay (Deluxe Sample): I’ve heard lots of good things about the Urban Decay Naked glosses, so I was very excited to receive this in the shade Naked. I think it’ll go well with the Naked 3 palette (funny how that works isn’t it?!) and will be a great neutral gloss to have around.

Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion by Urban Decay (Deluxe Sample): I’ve never used an eyeshadow primer before but I think it will definitely come in handy during the warmer months–if they ever arrive! Plus the fact that it’s anti-aging means it’ll give my eyes a youthful appearance. And who doesn’t want that?

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know what you think!

My Oscars Fashion Favs

I’ll be honest, I don’t really care much about the actual Oscars awards show. I usually don’t get a chance to see many of the movies nominated so I don’t have much of an opinion on who should win what.

However, what I do enjoy seeing is the red carpet fashion. While I wasn’t totally blown away by anyone this year, I do have a few favorites. In no particular order, here are my favorite fashions from this year’s Oscars:

86th Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsNaomi Watts in Calvin Klein Collection (if I had to choose a favorite, this one would be it!)

Did you watch the Oscars? Whose gown was your favorite?

February Favorites

OMG it’s been fooooorever since I’ve blogged. Wow. The past couple of weeks have been such a whirlwind and I feel like I haven’t had time to do much at all.

Well anyway, Happy March! Here are my favorites from February:

L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer: I picked this little guy up a while ago and realized I have been reaching for it quite a bit. I love this concealer stick because it is so easy to apply–it’s literally a crayon concealer. The concealer is great for covering under eye circles, redness and blemishes and it blends out very easily.

Cos33i_4_pack-shot

Sonia Kashuk Eyeshadow Quad in Bronzed Beauty: Ok, I know I’ve already mentioned this product here and here but I am STILL loving it! The lightest shade is pretty on its own but can also be used as an eye shadow base or highlighter. The medium shade looks great on the lid or crease, while the darkest shade is amazing as a liner. And the gold glittery shade? That’s just plain fun! If you want to see a full review on this product, I have one right here–lucky you!

Chella Highlighter Pencil in Ivory Lace: When this highlighting pencil came in my Birchbox a few months back I was a bit skeptical. But now I love it so much! I mainly use it over my under eye concealer to brighten up my face when I’m looking extra tired. It also works in the inner corner of your eye and underneath the brow bone.

Benefit Rockateur Blush: I’ve been wanting to try this blush since it came out. When a coupon for Sephora found its way into my email, I knew it was the right time to get it! It’s such a gorgeous, rosy shade that is very natural looking but still adds just enough color. Plus the packaging is adorable!

Buxom Lip Polish in Dolly: It’s no secret that I’m a lip gloss fanatic. I got this gem in a Sephora sampler and it’s perfect for achieving that “your lips but better” effect. It’s long-lasting and works well with so many different looks. I think once I use up the sample I’ll have to purchase a full size!

February Birchbox

This month, in honor of awards season, Birchbox partnered with Us Weekly to reveal all kinds of red carpet secrets. As someone who cares a lot more about watching the red carpet than the actual awards shows, I’m very excited about this. I can’t wait to see what this partnership has in store for the month of February!

Here’s what I got in my Birchbox:

photo-15

Paula’s Choice RESIST Ultra-Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum: This is an anti-aging serum that claims to tighten pores, fight lines and wrinkles, and soothe skin. I’m not sure I’ll be able to see those results from just one sample, but it can’t hurt!

SARAHPOTEMPA The HALF-UP: This spongey little tool is used to create different hairstyles like a top knot or low bun. While I’m not one to wear my hair up a lot, this will probably come in handy over the summer while at the beach or pool.

W3LL PEOPLE Universalist Multi-Use Color Stick in Dusty Rose: This beautiful rosy pink makeup stick is multi-purpose. You can use it on your eyes, lips, and cheeks–who doesn’t love that? It’s definitely the perfect color for spring and I’m so excited to use it!

Whish Three Whishes Body Butter: This body butter by Whish is packed with antioxidants to soften and smooth skin. It smells great and is the perfect way to treat skin during the cold winter months.

Harney & Sons Fine Teas in Paris and White Vanilla Grapefruit: I’ve definitely turned into a tea junkie so I was very excited to see this in my Birchbox. The Paris flavor is a fruity black tea while the White Vanilla Grapefruit flavor is a white tea.

What I’m Loving: Mirrored Sunnies

There are few things I love more than cozying up under the covers on a chilly winter day. Lately though, I’ve been dreaming of the warm days of summer. One of my favorite summer accessories has to be sunglasses, and I can’t stop thinking about the mirrored ones I’ve seen posted all over the blogosphere.

Here are a few pairs I’m loving at the moment:

Europe Shots

It’s official: I’m baaaack! In case you missed it, I spent the last 2 1/2 weeks traveling around Italy and France with my mom and cousin. And while I had an incredible time, I am very happy to be back home in the good ol’ USA!

I don’t want to do a long winded post about every little thing I did, so I thought I would just share a few of my favorite Instagram pictures that I took along the way.

Enjoy!

Going to Europe—HELP!

Hi everyone!

So I’m headed off to Europe on Sunday for a couple weeks. I’m so excited but was wondering if any of you could help me! The last time I was in Europe I only had a few days in each city. This time I’ll be able to explore a bit more. I’m looking for recommendations for shopping/restaurants/off the beaten path stuff to do in Rome and Paris. I’ll also be spending a couple days in Milan and Lyon.

we'll always have paris...

If you have any recommendations please please please leave them for me in the Comments section–I would be so grateful!

Hope you are all having a great week!
