March Favorites

Happy Spring! Or, if you’re like me, you’re still waiting for spring and wondering if it will ever stop snowing.

While I wait for the sun to come out, I’ve taken some time to try out a few new products and go back to an old favorite. Read on to see what I was loving during the month of March!

  1. Glossier Solution – It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Glossier. However, I was skeptical about Solution when my roommate purchased it and had a bad reaction. She let me try it out and I’m happy to report I’ve been using it for about a month with no issues. I use the toner every night and my skin feels smoother and I haven’t had a single breakout.
  2. Zoya Nail Polish in Kennedy – I discovered this color while treating myself to a manicure months ago. I loved it so much I had to purchase it for at-home manicures and have been using it religiously ever since. This shade is a beautiful nude that always makes me feel a bit more put together.
  3. OLEHENRIKSEN Transforming Walnut Scrub – One of my favorite skin care treatments is scrubs. This particular one was included in a recent Sephora gift-with-purchase and I’ve really enjoyed using it. It contains walnut powder and is gentle enough to be used several times a week.
  4. Olay Regenerist Microsculpting Cream – I grew up watching my mom apply her Olay products every day so it’s no surprise that I now use them (and occasionally borrow hers when I’m home!). I’ve tried many high end facial creams but continue going back to this affordable option. I use it every night and wake up with soft, hydrated skin.

Life Lately: Cali-forn-ia

Where oh where has the time gone?

If you saw my last post, you know I recently spent some time on the West Coast. I went to visit a friend and we took a little road trip to Los Angeles.

I hadn’t been to LA since high school so I had quite a bit of catching up to do with the City of Angels. Scroll on to see a few of my favorite photos from the trip!

March Favorites

Happy almost April! The weather is finally starting to warm up a bit and I’m feeling more energized and excited about the next couple of months. I didn’t try too many new products this month (I had a fun little trip to pay for instead!) but here are a few products I couldn’t get enough of:

march favs copy

Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser: I just picked this face wash up the other day and I’m so obsessed with it. It makes my skin feel clean and refreshed but still soft and moisturized. Hallelujah.

Facial Oils: Although I have oily skin, I’ve been into facial oils for a while. For the last few months, I’ve been using this one from Boots Botanics. It’s great budget buy, but once I used it up, I picked up this one from Kiehl’s. I love layering a facial oil underneath my night time moisturizer–I feel like I wake up with a brand new face every morning!

Maybelline Eye Studio Master Duo Glossy Liquid Liner in Bronzed Shimmer: When I couldn’t find my usual NYX liquid liner at Target or Ulta (the horror!), I picked up this one in desperation. Although it’s not the same as my favorite liquid liner, it’s really easy to apply and the applicator makes it really easy to create a winged look.

Unlocked from the LORAC Gold Palette: I did a quick review of this new palette from LORAC right here and I’ve definitely been reaching for it a ton for one particular color: Unlocked. It’s a beautiful champagne/gold color that acts as an amazing highlight!

I hope you are all having a wonderful March! Feel free to share your favorite products from this month with me in the Comments section!

Saint Patrick’s Day Picks

Saint Patrick’s Day has always had a special place in my heart. There’s just something about a holiday that revolves around fashion and beer that speaks to me.

However, as someone who isn’t the biggest fan of wearing color, I’ve always struggled to incorporate green attire into my wardrobe on that hallowed day. With that in mind, I’ve complied a few green options that are cute enough to take you from March 17 and beyond.

Cheers!

April Favorites

Happy end of April/almost May!

I hope you all had a very happy month–between (still) getting settled at my new job and trying to have somewhat of a life outside of work, I feel like I haven’t had much time to myself. I did however find time to think of a few things I couldn’t live without during the month. Read on to find out what I was absolutely obsessed with during April!

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara: I did a whole review on this mascara, and while I’m not totally crazy about it, I found myself reaching for it quite a bit during April. Now I know that statement doesn’t make much sense, but lately I’ve only been using it on my bottom lashes. Before I bought this product I rarely applied mascara to my bottom lashes. However, the wand on this particular mascara fits nicely with my eye shape and makes applying mascara to my lower lashes a breeze.

Black Boyfriend Blazer: Yes, spring has sprung and summer is just around the corner, but I found myself wearing the heck out of my black boyfriend blazer this month. Whether for work or play, this piece adds a nice finishing touch (and an extra layer of warmth) to any outfit I happened to be wearing. I definitely rocked it with jeans, dresses, and trousers all month long! The one pictured below is very similar to the one I have–and it’s on clearance!

Benefit Rockateur: This has been in my Favorites before, but I can’t seem to get enough of this rosy hued blush. It’s so natural looking but gives my skin that little boost it needs to look fresh and alive. I’m definitely more than a  little obsessed!

Merona Striped Shirt: I featured this particular top in a recent “What I’m Loving” post and I still love it just as much now as I did then. It can go casual or dressy (I even wore it to work today) and is so comfortable I never want to stop wearing it.

Benefit Sun Beam: Another Benefit product? Yup! I mostly use this product on my cheekbones as a highlighter but sometimes use it under my brow bone as well. It’s easy to blend and looks very natural on the skin.

Hard Candy Glow All the Way: As the temperatures heat up, I’m wearing more dresses and shorts. This can only mean one thing: it’s self-tanner time. To amp up my color a little bit more, I like to mix this Hard Candy bronzer in with my lotion. It gives me just a hint of color and a little bit of shimmer so that my skin looks nice and glowy. Spring Picks from Old Navy

I’ll be the first to admit, Old Navy used to be my jam. Back in my middle school and high school days, it was easy to find whatever I needed there. Lately, though, I haven’t found too much that’s struck my fancy.

I popped in the store today on a shopping trip but (no surprise) left empty-handed. Then, on a whim, I checked out their website and ended up finding quite a few things! Plus they’re offering an additional online-only discount right now.

Here are a few things that caught my eye:

This navy and white dress would like great with a lightweight jacket thrown on top

These polka shorts are just way too fun!

cn7590004These cut-out booties would be great now and in the fall

I’ve been dying to get a bucket bag and I couldn’t pass this one up!

What I’m Loving: Stripes

If there’s one thing in life that I’m sure of, it’s my love of black and white. Lately, I can’t get enough of this particular shirt. I picked it up from Target (my other love) and can’t seem to stop wearing it! In fact, I might even be wearing it as I type this…#sorrynotsorry

It’s a lightweight, black and white striped knit that is cut to fit a bit looser–so it’s cute AND comfortable! I also love pairing this top with a bold necklace or colorful shoes. The possibilities really are endless!
