March Favorites

Happy almost April! March was such a crazy blur for me with the weather being so completely undecided, getting settled in with a new job, and trying to maintain some sort of social life–I’m exhausted!

Anyway I know you’re not reading this post to hear about all that. So, let’s get on to the good stuff, shall we? Here’s what I’ve been loving for the last 30 days:

1. NYX  Cosmetics Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Coffee–I picked this up several months ago to replace one of my beloved liners from Mark. Black liner looks too harsh on me and this is the perfect bronzed, metallic color to complement any look I’m going for. Plus, the brush is nice and thin so it’s easy to draw a subtle line.

2. Clearasil Daily Clear Refreshing Superfruit Wash–There was a lot of buzz about this face wash when it first came out so I picked it up to see what all the fuss was about. It does a good job of cleansing, but what really gets me is the smell. It’s sweet and fruity and I’ve never experienced a face wash that smells this good! I definitely look forward to washing my face when I know I get to use this little guy.

3. Kate Spade Saturday The A Satchel in Silver Grey–As I mentioned already, I recently started a new job. I thought I would step up my handbag game and pick a more professional bag to carry during the day. I found this one by Kate Spade Saturday, and although it was a big of a splurge (even after signing up for a coupon code), I absolutely love it. It holds so much stuff without looking like a gigantic tote bag. I also love all the pockets inside and out!

4. Trader Joe’s Enrich Moisturizing Face Lotion–After running out of my normal moisturizer this month, I thought I would try out something different. This one from Trader Joe’s is great! It’s unscented and such a bargain. I tend to use it mostly at night because while it’s a lightweight moisturizer, it’s still a little bit heavier than what I use during the day.

Ulta Haul!

If you saw my Lust List post, then you know a certain product has been on my mind lately. I couldn’t get it off my mind, so I just had to pick it up from Ulta…along with a few other things, of course! Keep on reading to see what I got!

Yes, that’s a Christmas decoration in the background #reallife

Naked3 Palette by Urban Decay: After debating about this palette for MONTHS, I finally broke down and bought it. Yes, I could have picked it up in the store, but Ulta was offering lots of free deluxe samples (see below) online–and you all know how much I love shopping online! I’m still playing around with the colors and I’m excited to try out all the new shades.

Hint of Color Dry Shampoo in Medium/Brunette by Batiste: As a dry shampoo fanatic, I’ve heard lots of great things about Batiste. This particular dry shampoo was sold out in my local Ulta, so I just went ahead and purchased it online as well. With this product I’m hoping to avoid the white, powdery look that sometimes happens with other dry shampoos.

I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara by Essence: I read a review about this mascara on a beauty blog and was intrigued. I’ve been trying out lots of new mascaras lately and decided to go ahead and pick this one up too. Plus the pink packaging is way too cute to pass up (and I forgot to photograph it, so you can click the link to check it out)!

Naked Lip Gloss by Urban Decay (Deluxe Sample): I’ve heard lots of good things about the Urban Decay Naked glosses, so I was very excited to receive this in the shade Naked. I think it’ll go well with the Naked 3 palette (funny how that works isn’t it?!) and will be a great neutral gloss to have around.

Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion by Urban Decay (Deluxe Sample): I’ve never used an eyeshadow primer before but I think it will definitely come in handy during the warmer months–if they ever arrive! Plus the fact that it’s anti-aging means it’ll give my eyes a youthful appearance. And who doesn’t want that?

Have you tried any of these products? Let me know what you think!

GlamGlow: Is It Worth It?

If you’re at all familiar with the world of beauty products and skin care, you’ve probably heard of GlamGlow. Their line of masks and skin treatments are quite pricey but they claim to give amazing results.

Of course, being the product junkie that I am, I had to try them out. So once I got a Sephora coupon (come on, you didn’t think I’d pay full price for this did you?!), I picked up the GlamGlow gift set which includes a full-size SuperMud Clearing Treatment and a smaller sized YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment (best product name ever, btw).

I was very excited to try these products and I tested the SuperMud Clearing Treatment first. You only need a thin layer of product and I left the mask on until it was nice and dry…about 20 minutes. After rinsing the mask off my face, I wasn’t blown away by my skin’s appearance. However it did seem brighter and smoother. I also noticed that this mask seemed to calm any breakouts and they disappeared pretty quickly after using it.

Last night I tried the YouthMud Tinglexfoliate Treatment. First all, when they say “tinglexfoliate” they mean tinglexfoliate. After applying this mask to my face, there was lots of tingling action going on. I left it on for about 15 minutes (they recommend 10) and was a little unsure about the tingliness the whole time. However, as I rinsed this mask off my face, my skin felt ah-mazing! The mask gently exfoliated my face and left it feeling so soft and looking smooth and even. I’ve been wanting to touch my face all day because of it!

All in all, I was pretty pleased with my GlamGlow experiences. I’m not sure they’re life-changing enough to repurchase regularly, but when I’m in the mood for a treat, I’ll definitely pick up another Tinglexfoliate Treatment. Have you tried any GlamGlow products? What did you think?

Product Review: L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

14741799_201309031522Since my last mascara review several months ago, I’ve branched out and tried a few different mascaras. The latest one I’ve tried is the much buzzed-about L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara

There have been many mixed reviews on this particular product, so I figured the only true way to know if it was any good was to try it myself.

This mascara features a unique, asymmetrical wand, referred to by L’Oreal as the “Butterfly Brush” (see photo below).  The wand’s shape is meant to catch every lash–including those hard-to-reach inner and outer ones. And as someone who always struggles with this (#firstworldproblems, I know), I was excited to find this out.

However, the wand is not the easiest to work with. The whole time I was applying this mascara to my lashes, I was afraid I was going to poke myself in the eye. I did eventually get used to it though, and the effect on my lashes was pretty good!

I also decided to try this mascara out on my lower lashes. While I wasn’t crazy about the brush on my top lashes, it was amazing for my little bottom lashes. The curve of the brush fit very well against the shape of my lower lash line, and the formula was nice and light so my baby lashes weren’t weighed down too much.

Overall, I like this mascara. While the wand takes a bit of getting used to, I don’t regret buying it. I will continue to use it although I may not repurchase in the future. However, if you are ever looking for a good mascara to use on your bottom lashes, I highly recommend this one!

Have you tried this mascara? What other drugstore mascaras should I try out?

Wednesday Words…on Friday!

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have had a wonderful week and are looking forward to a fun, relaxing weekend. I know I am!

I stumbled across the words below on Instagram and thought I would do a quick “Wednesday Words” type post.

photo.PNG-2 copy

It’s so easy to focus on what’s going wrong in our lives and we often forget to rejoice in the little things that make life wonderful. So, today, choose joy!

Make a point of slowing down just a little bit to really experience all the good that’s around you–and you might be surprised to discover how happy all the little things make you!

What I’m Loving: Revlon Parfumerie Scented Nail Polish

Revlon recently released their new collection of nail polish, Parfumerie. And guess what? It’s scented! So, of course, I couldn’t resist picking up a few scented shades and I absolutely love them!

Revlon-Parfumerie-Scented-Nail-Enamel-2-1024x679

First of all, the packaging is so chic and classy. They look so irresistible on display that even if you’re not a nail polish junkie you’ll want to check them out!

Now, let’s discuss the fragrance. Available in 24 scents/colors from Orange Blossom to Chocolate Truffle to Lavendar Soap, you’re bound to find to find a polish that suits your style. Make sure you let the nail polish dry before you smell it, unless you particularly enjoy how nail polish smells right out of the bottle (I don’t).

The scent should last for about four days. I painted my nails in the Autumn Spice color about five days ago and I can still smell the lingering fragrance. Also, if you’re worried about this polish chipping, I highly recommend this base coat!

If you’re looking to try out some new unique nail polish, I highly suggest this collection. I’m planning to pick up a couple more scented shades soon!

Have you tried any of them yet?

My Oscars Fashion Favs

I’ll be honest, I don’t really care much about the actual Oscars awards show. I usually don’t get a chance to see many of the movies nominated so I don’t have much of an opinion on who should win what.

However, what I do enjoy seeing is the red carpet fashion. While I wasn’t totally blown away by anyone this year, I do have a few favorites. In no particular order, here are my favorite fashions from this year’s Oscars:

86th Annual Academy Awards - ArrivalsNaomi Watts in Calvin Klein Collection (if I had to choose a favorite, this one would be it!)

February Favorites

OMG it’s been fooooorever since I’ve blogged. Wow. The past couple of weeks have been such a whirlwind and I feel like I haven’t had time to do much at all.

Well anyway, Happy March! Here are my favorites from February:

L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer: I picked this little guy up a while ago and realized I have been reaching for it quite a bit. I love this concealer stick because it is so easy to apply–it’s literally a crayon concealer. The concealer is great for covering under eye circles, redness and blemishes and it blends out very easily.

Cos33i_4_pack-shot

Sonia Kashuk Eyeshadow Quad in Bronzed Beauty: Ok, I know I’ve already mentioned this product here and here but I am STILL loving it! The lightest shade is pretty on its own but can also be used as an eye shadow base or highlighter. The medium shade looks great on the lid or crease, while the darkest shade is amazing as a liner. And the gold glittery shade? That’s just plain fun! If you want to see a full review on this product, I have one right here–lucky you!

Chella Highlighter Pencil in Ivory Lace: When this highlighting pencil came in my Birchbox a few months back I was a bit skeptical. But now I love it so much! I mainly use it over my under eye concealer to brighten up my face when I’m looking extra tired. It also works in the inner corner of your eye and underneath the brow bone.

Benefit Rockateur Blush: I’ve been wanting to try this blush since it came out. When a coupon for Sephora found its way into my email, I knew it was the right time to get it! It’s such a gorgeous, rosy shade that is very natural looking but still adds just enough color. Plus the packaging is adorable!

s1539253-main-hero

Buxom Lip Polish in Dolly: It’s no secret that I’m a lip gloss fanatic. I got this gem in a Sephora sampler and it’s perfect for achieving that “your lips but better” effect. It’s long-lasting and works well with so many different looks. I think once I use up the sample I’ll have to purchase a full size!
